Mulches add organic matter which improve soil quality and help to make your garden healthier and more resistant to pests and disease. It helps to keep the soil cooler by shielding it from the sun, prevents evaporation and weed growth and it obviously looks good.
Recommended is 7.5-10cm thickness
You can also consider non-organic mulches, which do not decompose and are very decorative like Blue Metal, recycled Brick, Pea Gravel or other rocks.

Cracked Pea Gravel can be used as a path or driveway. It will remain loose on the surface due to the lack of fines/dust to enable compaction. But the “cracked” edges gives it the ability to lock in to each other and is less slippery than the whole gravel. It also works well in native gardens and landscapes as an alternative to wood-based mulch as it doesn’t degrade over time. It provides the soil with some level of sun protection and allows for excellent drainage. Usually a depth of 50mm-100mm is recommended. We suggest installing Geofabric underneath to stop the aggregate from mixing in with the existing sand, and to help control weeds. 12mm in size

Enviro Mulch Mix reduces moisture loss, reduces weed growth and prevents high soil temperatures that can damage the roots. It is irregular in size, which allows the water to pass through to your plant’s roots. Provides an economical option, without turning to manure. This mulch provides your garden with the nutrients it requires as it breaks down at a slow, consistent rate. Contains green-waste and soil.

Mushroom compost is a popular soil conditioner and feeding mulch and as a soft mulch great for vegetable, fruit, flowers (roses) and herbs. When used as a mulch it fights soil erosion. It can also be incorporated into the soil before planting. The composted straw, manure (chicken), gypsum, peat and limestone make a perfect blend of rich organic materials to build soil health.

This high quality crushed and screened bark mulch is perfectly suited to native gardens, high traffic areas and windy locations and is great for hiding falling leaf litter from trees as leaves and twigs tend to blend into the chunky and coarse open texture of this mulch.
